About the Torque Engine
The Torque Engine is a fully featured, award-winning, game engine. The technology is a derivation of the ground-breaking engine behind the massively successful commercial video game Tribes. The source code is available for purchase by anyone for $99 per independent developer.

The Engine supports Mac, PC, and Linux. One feature of the Torque Engine that greatly reduces the overhead of cross platform development is the built in scripting language. By using the scripting language, a user is able to write code once for all three platforms without recompiling an executable.

The networking of the Torque Engine is un-paralleled. The core networking engine originally targeted dial-up modems and required many optimizations. These optimizations are still applicable to today’s broadband network. There is no networking support available today that can rival the performance of the Torque Engine.

The Torque Engine has a very promising future. Currently, there are already tens of thousands using the engine. This community actively contributes to forums and documentation creating a knowledge base manageable only by modern search engines.

No other engine supports the versatility that the Torque Engine provides. Its design is suitable for all types of environments, not just one. Torque is equally suitable for rendering large terrains as it is for rendering indoor environments.

Although Torque is more closely suitable for video games, new development is occurring that will launch Torque into a front-running contender for the best engine in the simulation community.
